To wyjątkowe i dotychczas niepublikowane wystąpienie legendarnego Luciano Pavarottiego, zarejestrowane podczas prestiżowego Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod w 1995 roku, wreszcie trafi do fanów na całym świecie. Historyczny koncert ukazuje Pavarottiego w pełni jego artystycznej mocy, w towarzystwie BBC Philharmonic, sopranistki Atzuko Kawahara oraz chóru Corale Rossini, oferując rzadką możliwość przeżycia niezapomnianego wieczoru muzyki, pasji i kunsztu.

W 2025 roku Luciano Pavarotti obchodziłby 90. urodziny (12 października). Z tej okazji Decca Records zainicjowała projekt PAVAROTTI 90, globalny hołd dla tenora, celebrujący jego niepodważalny wkład w muzykę i popularyzowanie opery na świecie. W ramach projektu wydano pełny koncert, a także dwa nigdy wcześniej niepublikowane nagrania z 1955 roku – najwcześniejsze dostępne nagrania głosu Pavarottiego, kiedy miał zaledwie 19 lat.

Luciano Pavarotti, wypełniając obietnicę, powrócił w 1995 roku do małego miasteczka w północnej Walii, aby zagrać koncert galowy podczas Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod. Stało się to 40 lat po tym, jak Pavarotti wraz z chórem z Modeny zdobyli pierwszą nagrodę w Konkursie Chóralnym, który odmienił jego życie.

Dodatkowo, Decca wyda tego samego dnia również wersję audio koncertu „The Lost Concert: Live from Llangollen 1995”. Nagranie zostało zmasterowane przy użyciu najnowszych technologii i wzbogacone o 100-stronicową książkę kolekcjonerską zawierającą eseje, fotografie i materiały archiwalne. W zestawie znajdą się także dwa oryginalne nagrania Corale Rossini z 1955 roku – Bonjour mon coeur i In Nomine Jesu, uznawane za najwcześniejsze zachowane nagrania głosu Pavarottiego, a także wywiad, w którym tenor wspomina swoją pierwszą wizytę w Walii.

Mówiąc o znaczeniu tego wydarzenia, Nicoletta Mantovani, wdowa po Luciano, stwierdziła: „To był początek wszystkiego. Luciano często powtarzał, że bez Llangollen nie byłoby jego kariery.”

Kolekcja prezentuje program pełen arii z Cavalleria rusticana, Il trovatore i Macbeth, a także znanych pieśni neapolitańskich. Zawiera również dwa utwory z 1955 roku, które są uważane za najstarsze nagrania Luciano Pavarottiego. 100-stronicowa książka w formacie LP zawierająca historię koncertu, wywiady z zaangażowanymi osobami, cenne i rzadkie historyczne zdjęcia z archiwum Llangollen, reprodukcję oryginalnego programu koncertu, specjalnie zamówioną historię Llangollen Eisteddfod i wiele więcej.

Płyty SACD w tym pudełku są hybrydowe i zawierają warstwę audio PCM, którą można również odtwarzać na standardowych odtwarzaczach CD, a także warstwę DSD.
